Well we got a late start to the day but it was ok. Myself and 3 ladies headed off to hit up lake solitude and mt sunapee due to the recent snowfall. Monkey and suzanne had taken lead and swapped off breaking trail. Even from the rear it was rough as the trail did not packout due to the snow being so light and cold. We all had snowshoes on and they were barely gripping at times as there was nothing to grip to. The two miles to the lake seemed like forever. Once we got up to the ledges it was a lot quicker heading over to sunapee. Before we knew it we had hit the ski trail and said hi to some skiiers coming down. We hooffed it to the summit lodge and luckily it was open but only for bathrooms. We got inside and got warm as the wind had gotten it pretty chilly outside and why not get warm when you can. When we left there, we hit the summit and got our snowshoes back on and headed on back down. The mile to the lake was even quicker than the last and then met 1 guy who thanked us for breaking out the trail today. We headed on down and made it back to the car in 1:45 minutes... way way wayyyy less time than going up. Well all and all we had good day and glad we finally made it out! |
