Comments
Comments: We did a 12-mile loop from the Glencliff Trail trailhead, over the Hurricane Trail, up Gorge Brook to the summit, and then down via Carriage Road and Glencliff Trail.

Lower elevations are crust on a few inches of soft snow; higher up is a foot or more of new powder.

We broke Hurricane Trail (note -- about a mile from intersection with Carriage Road, where trail runs in a drainage, we bushwhacked about 20 feet west of the corridor for a tenth of a mile to stay out of drainage), did our best to clean up a post-holed powder-topped Gorge Brook Trail, and then snowshoe-skied down the powderific excellent Glencliff Trail.

Full-on raging winter on the summit: cloud-socked with 20-foot visibility, 50 mph wind gusts (20-30 mph sustained), rime ice forming on anything and everything within seconds -- we love this stuff!

A fine, fine day out.

We saw all of a half-dozen people, far fewer than we expected, and all of them were on the Gorge Brook Trail.
