|Hiking Trail Conditions Report|
||Mt. Chocorua, NH|
||Champney Brook Trail, Piper Trail|
|Date of Hike:
||Tuesday, April 18, 2017|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Significant, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Snow - Spring Snow |
||Light Traction |
|Water Crossing Notes:
||The crossing 100' from the parking area was difficult but avoidable by the short walk along the Kanc. Others were OK but snow bridges are on their way out. |
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||One nasty blowdown not far above the falls loop. |
|Lost and Found:
||Lower portions of hike are on rotting monorail with stretches of open, muddy trail. Above the first switchback things improve with deeper, firm snow but that won't last. Summit ledges are mostly bare rock.|
Lovely hike with Chris, with wonderful summit views and comfortable conditions when the higher peaks were all in the clouds.
