Comments
Comments: Followed the Austin Brook trail for about two miles, then turned off at the brook from Dryad Falls. Bushwacked upstream to follow the route of old trail which decades ago led up the north side of Dryad Falls, affording impressive views. The old logging road trail was completely gone. New logging disruption near the brook. Found a pair of yellow trail paint marks near the bottom of the cascade, but no evidence of herd path or anyone else hiking through. Dryad Falls, one of the highest cascades in the mountains, had a good flow of melt water and was spectacular. Care must be taken as the ledges are mosey and wet. And the wooded slope is very steep. Worth it for the views! Met the Dryad Falls trail at the top of the cascade, and followed it back out.
