Comments
Comments: Alright the forecast was rain all day. We got there and it was just starting to mist so we had all our raingear on. We went up the old logging road from under the mountain rd which switc backed up. We did not go see the mines as we didn't know what the weather would do for our trip. We hit a gravel pit with a large pit that had snow in it. We got a compass bearing for the col and went that way. A lot of mosse activity everywhere and we think we heard a few running around. We hit only a very very short section of spruce but was in and out of that within a minute. We got into open woods and it was amazing. We got to the col and went over to signal mtn where the signal tower on e stopd and is not laying on the ground. We picled a much easier way going back as we stayed to the right side and it was great. We knew we had to get to the tree that had ds 99 on it for the fire towers and knew hat to be the 4th bump we would hit. The woods were open the whole way. After bump #2 we hit very very recent logging operations with views because of the large cuts. They practically went up to the 3rd bump in a vehicle. We started to drop down and stayed to the left as it was some better footing. We hit the col which again more activity of logging. We crossed the water where it looks like a beaver damn from the trees all down. The skidder roads were fresh and unstable with the rain that had just started up on the last bump. We got out of the skidder roads and aimed for the top. Still open woods. We got to the peak and a moose took a dump right at the top behind the tree that has carved in it ds 99. We found it! There was a small amount of water right below the top too with a little ice left in it. This made 1 left for my firetower list. So we headed back to the col and crossed the water. We took a line to the car which had us crossings that water from the col many times. We ended up on an old logging road which then brought us to currently active logging roads. We followed them for a while and when it started raining yet again we went back into the woods as they were open enough. We poped back out on the road just a little lower then the car and right when it started to poor. All in all some great whacking and peaks and people.
