Comments
Comments: A traverse of the Moose Mountains (Brookfield, not Hanover) over to Copple Crown, Meetup group of 11.

Mostly dry conditions on this traverse, but a LOT of leaves made for some difficult and tiring footing on the bushwhacks. Many steep ups and downs along this route, as we hit most of the bumps along the way. Interesting view ledges and geographical features including some neat volcanic boulders when off-trail. Also a tremendous view out to the Whites from the top of the old Moose Mountain ski area, where we stopped for lunch. From Moose, we dipped southwest and then northeast, following the ridge to Copple Crown, entering into an old sheep pasture along the county line along the way, which offered a wide vista over to the Belknaps. We hit the East Peak first, then the main summit. A very leafy descent down the CCT. We saw a few SUVs along the road portion of the trail, which had created very deep ruts. This stretch was also very muddy and wet. Once out, we walked Moose Mountain Road back to our spotted cars.

All told this trek ended up being about 12.8 miles with all the meandering we did on the bushwhacks. A large majority of this traverse was off-trail. We encountered some flagged bootleg trails and herd paths in spots, but it's a shame there isn't an official trail across this ridge (some areas are private property), it would be fantastic.
