Comments
Comments: There are Plymouth Mt Trail signs, green, hung high up on trees. I followed Plymouth Mountain Trail all the way to Plymouth Mt. There is some snow up high but it is pretty much gone. I met a man just before reaching the summit and he was looking for the Newfound Lake Viewpoint spur. He followed me back to the summit and there is a sign to the path--he had not followed it far enough his first try. View was excellent. I followed the trail back down the way I had come to the col and I turned north and followed the ridge to the 2k contour upon not finding any evidence of recent past visitors I came to the conclusion that I was not on the West Peak--I did enjoy some nice views from some open ledgy areas. I needed to be on the south side of the the trail and that the West Peak is just shy of 2k of elevation. I returned and from the col I went directly at the West Peak over a nice bump and a wet area and I crossed several old logging roads. I walked across the peak and the recognized highpiont is on the far west end of the summit. Lots of moose sign. I returned by bushwhacking straight down to my car. Glad to have done this before the prickers and leaves pop out. Fun day and I made it more of an adventured than I had planned.
