"Dry" trail in the first section but you soon run into snow & ice. Microspikes would have been best but I left them in my other pack. Luckily I had some yak trax with me. The monorail is very narrow and icy on top. Tightrope walk. At one point I put on snowshoes to walk along side the monorail since the yakkers were slipping a bit. Stopped a lot for gear changes. Slow going especially descending. Took me 4 1/2 hours and I usually come in under book time. Snow/ice softened up around noontime. |
