Can't compare todays hike to my summer climbs up Huntington, North Slide, Flume Slide etc. but today was the most challenging climb to date for Art and I. AMC Guide describes it well ("dangerous in wet or icy conditions" and "one of the most difficult"). Lots of ice and wet rock and a few spots up near the top made me nervous. Had microspikes but not sure they would've been helpful with today's conditions(thin ice no snow). Would stablicers or something else work well with steep ledge and minimal ice? Would appreciate any advice out there by e-mail. Other than this was a nice, windy day with very nice trails. |
