| Comments: |
The post-hole section really starts above the staircases, and then it was extensive snowcover (though not solid) all the way to the peak. Following the traces of the firm-packed trail in-between the post-holes can be a fun challenge, but every time you fall through it's 1-3 feet down, and pretty exhausting, so one in our party was ready to turn back just before the Slide Trail junction (and the winds on the ridge were kicking up). Microspikes were essential. N.B.: this is a terrific way up Flume at other times of the year, but early May requires more patience with conditions. |
