Dry bare trail on Gorge Brook for a good ways. Once you hit the monorail it goes all the way to the treeline and than is back to dry bare ground above. Traction is recommended as monorail can be slippery, but think snowshoes would be overkill. We did post hole a couple times to our waist, but were able to get around the monorail to avoid trouble spots. When walking on the monorail we found that it was pretty stable for the most part. There were areas that looked weak, so definitely take your time and be extra careful! We played the on & off Hillsound game a few times on this hike.
Monorail continues along Glencliff till about .2 mile down Carriage where it becomes dry & bare the remainder of the way.
A large blow down believed to be along Snapper blocks the trail, but is able to be stepped over.
Several other hikes & dogs were out today. Windy at the summit, but definitely a great day for this hike! :) |
