Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Overall in good shape. A few downed trees at beginning section, but no major blockages. Pretty muddy in some areas, and we did encounter a bit of standing water at lower elevations, but nothing impassable and most sections had bypass routes alongside the trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No dogs allowed in park on any trail. Regardless, we did see one and encountered some landmines at a few places on the trail.
Bugs
Bugs: None that were noticeable while moving in the morning. As the day went on the mosquitos and black flies came out. Was bitten a few times here and there, but I was not wearing bug spray and it still did not cause any major annoyance.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: n/a

Comments
Comments: The trail starts with a pleasant walk through the forest for the first 1.5 miles or so. After that you come to a an uphill climb with a few scrambles which take you onto a ridge where you get beautiful views of the landscape below for the rest of the hike. From the summit, you can see the Boston Skyline looking East-Southeast and Mount Washington North-Northwest. Much of trail was still wet and muddy from the week of rain, but in a good pair of boots or trail shoes it isn't a problem. No snow that I could see from anywhere.

Overall it was an excellent hike with excellent views from mile 2 and on. 9 miles round trip took me about 7 hours with frequent stops to admire the views, and a nice lunch break close to the summit. We got an early start and were one of the only ones on the trail - however by the afternoon the higher elevations and the trail headed back down became a bit crowded.

The trailhead can be easy to miss for those who have not been before. It is only a small opening in the trees in between two driveways on East Lake Road. The trailhead is on your left just as you begin to see Lake Dublin on your right if coming from Dublin town center. Although the lake makes for an inviting swim at the end of your hike, much of the shore along the road is private property. I am unsure of if/where there is public access to take a dip.

The earlier start you get on this trail, the better. This way you can avoid most of the bugs and the crowds. I'd also recommend you bring sunscreen as much of the trail is without the cover of trees.
