| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
A lot of tiny streams. Nice bridges over the rest. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Nice new bridge at one point. Thanks! There were a few trails (herd paths, ski trails?) off to the side that did not have a sign, everything else was great. Thanks for your work. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Only two or three. Be careful if you go into the higher elevations - wind, drop-offs, lots of rocks. |
| Bugs: |
The winds which prevented us from continuing also prevented many from landing. Black flies and a few skeets. |
| Lost and Found: |
Several cigarette butts. How do their owners'lungs manage these elevations? |

| Comments: |
And once again we fail to reach the Alpine Garden. We started early as I had a commitment later in the day. Tuckerman is easy to follow by headlamp. Day was breaking when we started Lion's Head. Beautiful trail to be on at dawn. But once out of the trees the wind became a definite issue. Prema was standing by the big cairn and I was ten feet away yelling at her to sit down. Couldn't get a word out. As we sat in the shelter of the cairn, I told her I did not want to repeat our Bonds experience of a couple years ago ( and today's winds seemed a little worse). There were some very nice flowers scattered all over Lion's Head, so at least we saw some. A few other folks were turned back by the winds as well. It was still a good day! |
