| Bugs: |
It's mosquito season! And gnat season! And the summit is crawling with those tiny black bugs with the iridescent shells. They get all over you. A bug headnet helps. |

| Lost and Found: |
Found a woman's size medium dark grey Seirus fleece glove near the last water crossing. Email me if it is yours. |

The views of the Pemi wilderness from Garfield are amazing! You look directly onto Owls Head and are surrounded by the Pemi Loop. The silhouette of Flume, Liberty, Little Haystack, Lincoln and Lafayette is awesome. We briefly considered heading over to Galehead to make a longer loop hike for ourselves, but it was hot and humid in the trees and the views from Garfield were so wonderful that we decided instead to allow ourselves a luxuriously long time on the summit and to do Galehead another day. Our active hiking time for Garfield round trip: 4 hrs, 40 minutes. |
