| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of parking at the AMC Cardigan Lodge. We met and chatted with the Town of Alexandria road crew as they re-graded Shem Valley Road -- it's in fine form for the summer. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Not an issue -- in fact, a few of them were a bit (too) dry for this time of year. Not a good sign. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails were in good shape; some recent drain cleaning, blowdown removal, and even some rock work on Holt Clark Cutoff (thank you!). |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
| Bugs: |
None at all. Steady 40-mph winds on the summit probably helped a bit with that. |
