Up the Brook Trail was nice and cool in the shade. I didn't meet any hikers until I almost to the summit. Hung out for a while enjoying the view and chatting with a Gunstock employee Alex for a few minutes-I declined to take his survey. I also chatted with another hiker from the area, Sean. Zip line was busy, listened to the whirl sound and yells from the happy zippers all the way up the Brook Trail. Nice views across the big lake and a good look at Belknap and the fire tower too. I returned the way I had come but turn right on the Saddle Trail and then left on the Overlook Trail. The Overlook Trail gets little use compared to the Blue Trail and the Saddle. I enjoyed the Overlook Trail, it was quiet through the pretty woods and the grades reasonably gentle. From the Outlook Ledges the vista was grand and fun to look at the other Belknap Mts. Blueberries are starting to come in but not quite ready year, another week if it stays hot. Nice to meet to Greg & his family coming up the trail. The Round Pond Trail/Gunstock Nordic Center Trails were a grassy and I like skiing them more than hiking them. Fun day! |
