Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Got the last spot in the log just after 9am, but if people parked better there could have been room for 2 more. Especially the giant blue pickup. Dude. Quite a few cars pulled in just after me. Ended at 2:45 and most of the lot cars were gone but a bunch lining the drive including the drive to the electric center which I could have sworn said NO PARKING.
Surface Conditions

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossing on Drakes Brook Trail was pretty easy. Frisco made sure the couple crossing after us made it! There's a mud slag further up that is deep after the one boardwalk. ON Sandwich Mt Trail, I do not know where the trail thinks you are supposed to cross. Went downstream to some good size rocks but got went landing in loose gravel.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Typical washouts that you see in the Mts. Plus that large one.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Met a lot of friendly dogs today. Frisco did great. Going up Drakes Brook Trail you meet up with the brook frequently until the switchbacks. Mud slag on the way up was chest deep on this impatient dog. Sandwich Mt Trail is dry nearly the entire time. It is rougher and steeper but doable. Frisco had to actually SWIM to cross the brook at the end and got in my way at the car until I toweled him off.
Bugs
Bugs: Not to crazy for a walk in the woods and kept off if moving. Jennings had enough of a breeze. Sandwich had less wind and more bugs. Also saw two big wasps that we let fly off before continuing.

Comments
Comments: A gorgeous day for a warm up hike. Jennings Peak has great views and we had it nearly to ourselves for a short while until a large group came up. Then out came the drone. We had to leave since the giant buzzing bug was unpleasant for the human and scary for the dog. We decided to tag on Sandwich since it was too nice to go down already. You have to stand to see over the trees, but still a great view north. When the large group started filing in, we finished our sandwich on Sandwich and headed back.
