Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We spotted cars at the Gale River trailhead and then drove to the North Twin trailhead to start our traverse hike. (Note that Haystack Road is no longer a loop road and you must drive out to Route 3 to get between the two trailheads.)
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: We opted to do the three crossings of Little River on the North Twin Trail instead of using the bypass for the first two. Water crossings are fun! Some of us took off our shoes and waded in at the first crossing; and some of us rock hopped the first crossing. We all rock hopped the 2nd and 3rd crossings. All other water crossings on this traverse were also rock hoppable. Poles are helpful for the rock hopping as some of the rocks are spread a bit far apart.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some blow downs and duck unders along the way.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: We saw some large dogs with their owners.
Bugs
Bugs: We used bug spray and reapplied a couple of times during the hike, but all in all, the bugs were not too bad.

Comments
Comments: The ledges on North Twin are beautiful, and South Twin is an amazing, amazing summit. The wild flowers blooming all around Galehead Hut are gorgeous. Even the ledge view into the valley from Galehead was fantastic. We were lucky to have another beautiful day with blue skies and white fluffy clouds. Our outing time was 8 hours and 50 minutes and our hiking time was approximately 7 hours, 30 minutes.
