I learned that Reed Road Trail officially opened so I decided I'd do it and have a proper redline finish. There should be a sign or even just a blaze on the gate that explains this is the Reed Road Trail instead of just a sign that SPNHF welcomes foot traffic. We continued past the locked gate and up the gravel logging road, new water bars have been dug. The trail didn't feel like it really began until we reached a giant stone staircase entering the woods and blazes on the trees. The trail is excellent and gifts big vistas. We met two groups of people descending that were excited about the new trail. The trail intersections the DR Quarry Trail. We decided to bop on over to West Quarry since Charlie had not been there before and we enjoyed eating blueberries most all the way. We liked descending the trail while enjoying the mountain and lake views. Trails all wonderful. I really enjoyed all the Belknap Peaks and trails. Thanks Charlie for coming along for the fun. |
