Comments: Day 1 of an overnight in the Pemi...

Decided to do a 'lassoo' of sorts and to make a weekend out of it. After tiring of East Pond Road quicky I detoured to the Pine Island Trail which felt much better. Beyond the tentsite I only saw three people until I hit Thoreau Falls where there were maybe 10 or so during my lunch stay. Up to Shoal Pond Trail it was smooth sailing but once I started S on that trail the pace of play slowed. There are many fallen trees here - none are particularly big but you to have to lift your feet a lot. There are also many rotted bog bridges muddy stretches and brushy spots also. It seemed to me the northern half was a little rougher than the southern half. Some people might call these issues but yet others might call it Wilderness fun.

I spent a very peaceful night in the Stillwater Junction area only seeing two others in the area. A fun day wandering the interior Pemi...and thanks to Bill Robichaud who provided some recent intel on some of these trails as I was planning my trip earlier this week :)
