Comments
Comments: If you're hiking this trail you know what you're in for, and it delivers.
The trail varies from nice forest path, to partly covered with vegetation to moving through a savannah with plant cover 6'+ tall with this sequence, with minor variants, repeating itself throughout the hike. With the somewhat dry weather we've been having the mud was a non-issue. It was there but had the consistency of play-doh. There was one wet section but with the heavy vegetation providing a mat of sorts we didn't get our feet wet. While hiking the trail we didn't have issues with the first brush area we just followed the WMG and aimed for the back right. There was another area a but further along where we momentarily lost the trail. Once we got back on it we backtracked to where we lost it to see what happened; basically not paying attention. As I write this on 8/5/2017 there have been four people that I know of who have gone down the trail so the brushy areas have been beat back a bit. If you have the time and inclination when you reach the intersection with the North Ammo trail take a right and go the 50 yards or so to the large field. It's a great place to hang out for a while.
