Date of Hike: Saturday, August 19, 2017
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: No issue with parking at the Sabbaday Falls lot. Lot was completely full when I got down around 3.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easier than expected, given the recent rain. Crossings on Pine Bend Brook were no issue at all. Crossings on Sabbaday Brook were a little trickier because of how wet the rocks were.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Couple areas on both trails where it's easy to lose the trail due to spotty blazing and lots of debris. The middle part of Sabbaday Brook (before leaving the Wilderness Area descending) is in rough shape in some parts. Amazing the damage that was done from Irene and Sandy.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: All the ones I met seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Bugs
Bugs: Not much to speak of. Quite nice.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: N/A

Comments
Comments: Both trails were very slick after the recent rains. There are a lot of rocks and roots on both, so footing was tricky. Coming down Sabbaday, the ledges on the steep section provided a challenge. There was some butt-scooting, as I definitely did not trust my footing.

I'm sure once the trail dries out it will be better, but I would maybe consider something else if you're planning a hike after a recent rainstorm.
