Beautiful day for a hike! This loop gives one many experiences:From a moderate trail at the beginning of the Crawford Path, to a progressively steeper, rockier trail . The cutoff to Mizpah Hut gives one the opportunity to stop at the Hut for a quick snack or a longer rest! After the Hut, the trail (which is now the Appalachian Trail) is actually the upper part of the Webster Cliffs...It is steeper and does have some moderate rock scrambling..again, nothing extreme. One is afforded a beautiful view of Western Peaks when ascending to the Summit. Once at the Summit of Pierce the view is worth the effort! At the intersection of the Crawford Path, one may choose to continue on the Eisenhower, or "turn left" and descend the Path to its beginning (on route 302, Crawford Notch) and then back to the parking lot! A most enjoyable day!Pemi was invited back to Mizpah Hut by the Cru! |
