Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: We waded on the crossing by the southern Sawyer Pond trailhead, mid-shin height with no significant current, all other crossings rock hoppable
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Mt. Tremont trail in good shape, some eroded sections but easy to follow. Brunel trail was in much rougher shape, much harder to follow up high especially between Mt. Tremont and the Owl's Cliff spur, lots of blowdowns and minimal blazes. Heading down (south) from the Mt. Tremont trail there's a tangle of 3-4 blowdowns, then another blowdown about 100 yards later - we thought it was blocking the trail and spent a while looking for it but the trail takes a sharp right here. The footbed was faint in places, lots of downed leaves was more like a hike in late October and not late August. A few blowdowns and stepovers on Sawyer Pond trail but otherwise trail in good shape. Sign marking Owl's Cliff spur is on a downed tree but sign marking Brunel trail easier to spot.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Hannah had a great day - no issues with the terrain and enough water on the trail, carried extra for her but not needed with the cooler temps.
Bugs
Bugs: Got attacked for a few miles on either side of the Brunel/Sawyer Pond junction, otherwise no issues

Comments
Comments: Great day of exploring, Mt. Tremont is steep heading up and down but the summit view ledge is spectacular. Brunel trail needs some love, felt like we were in a wilderness area but other trails in pretty good shape. Sawyer Pond is a great spot, must be spectacular in foliage season. Didn't see a soul all day - thanks Tim and Hannah for a fantastic day.
