Parking for several vehicles prior to the gate on Carter Mountain Road (where a private driveway heads left, uphill and Carter Mountain Road becomes Class VI). |

Nothing of real note -- some of the older, orange flagging has fallen to the ground and could be replaced. |

Nice quiet jaunt up Hersey Mountain.
Once off the logging road and skid paths, the trail is flagged in spots, and the corridor is pretty obvious (might be less so in the winter, though -- this trail could make a very nice snowshoe route).
Logging landing area just off the Class VI portion of Carter Mountain Road has been cleaned up a bit now since the logging activity from a year ago, when we were last here.
Steep sections of logging road/skid paths (the initial part of the route up to the hiking trail) is pretty heavily eroded now. |
