Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, October 13, 2017
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The small lot (3-4 spaces) at the Centennial trailhead was full at 9 A.M. There was space to park at the corner of Hogan Rd. and North Rd., a quarter mile east of the trailhead.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One small stream and a couple of muddy spots, all rock hop-able.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some distance north of the ledges on the south flank of Cascade, the Mahoosuc Trail northbound takes a sharp right turn with an unofficial trail of some sort continuing straight. The sign was missing and I found it on the ground 25 yards away. Without tools to reattach it properly, I propped it up at the base of the tree it belonged on. Two tricky blowdowns to traverse between there and the summit of Cascade.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw one happy looking fellow. There isn't much water for them except a stagnant stream in the col between Hayes and Cascade.
Bugs
Bugs: None.
