| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Last portion of the road to the trailhead is probably a show stopper for low clearance vehicles: protruding rocks, deep mud pit, and a partially collapsed culvert. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Impassable blowdown combo maybe 2/3rds of the way up (herd path going around it). Could be removed with a handsaw. Also a larger stepover blowdown not too far from summit. Lots of full waterbars. |

Black Mountain in Benton.
Trail was mostly dry, but there is a thick coating of leaves on the middle third. Good golden foliage colors down low, but not much up high. Side of Moosilauke looks like the leaves have mostly dropped, but there were still some nice colors visible on the back of Clough.
A once very smooth trail (Jeep Road) is getting increasingly rough in recent years with more gullies and exposed ledge/scrambles. Very sad to see the Forest Service allowing this to happen after losing the volunteer maintainers. |
