Trails: Doublehead Ski Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Monday, October 30, 2017
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking is in an enlarged shoulder just above the start of the trail on Dundee Road. The roads to reach the trailhead, while steep, are nonetheless perfectly fine for any vehicle in non-winter conditions.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Almost the entire lower half of the trail was literally a river. That said, as long as you don't mind getting your feet completely soaked, nothing was really dangerous. But with the current water levels, keeping your feet dry is pretty much impossible.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail was extremely wet, and was literally a river in the lower half, though with all the rain we got recently that's pretty much unavoidable. Further up, there wasn't as much water on the trail. There were several blowdowns at various elevation levels.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dogs will get wet.
Bugs
Bugs: None.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nada.

Comments
Comments: Quite possibly the wettest hike I have ever done. Almost the entire lower half of the trail (before it gets steep) was literally a river. Avoiding the water was impossible. Further up, it was steep but the footway was clear on the ski path. Cabin was locked, and there were no views due to the rain.
