| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Jackson to Pierce : Trail is in good shape until the junction with the Mizpah cutoff. Starting about at this point there is a several acre area of flattened trees. Someone has sawed through them to the hut. For about 100 yards above the hut the trail is obliterated. |

If you are considering the AT from Jackson to Pierce you should proceed with your plan. Your trip may be lengthened by 5 to 10 mins to go over/around the windfalls. Or they might be gone by the time you get there. It's a work in progress. The bigger risk to life and limb is the innumerable icy slippery bog bridges.
My thanks to whoever cleared the windfalls from the Crawford Path.
BTW Haystack Road was not gated in the morning nor the afternnon. |
