Comments
Comments: today i decided to take my german shepherd on her first hike and leave my boxer at home so i could concentrate on her. worked on her trail manners. i decided to skip falling waters just by the sound of water alone at the junction for i didn't want to risk it being to tricky for her first hike. There was snow at the bottom and and all the way to the top. patches of slick ice on the rocks from around 3000 up till right before and after the hut. i put my spikes on at the hut but i didn't really need them, (they were more needed at the bottom) and plugged to the summit. we had the summit to ourselves for about 15 minutes before we decided to head on out. along the way down we passed about a total of a dozen people. after the first group i opted to put my dogs training collar on so she could learn her trail manners a little bit better. she's very friendly, but her brief barking when she first sees someone needed work. by the time we passed the last people she was finally used to it and sitting and behaving and even got lovey dovey with a few people who wanted to pet her (thank you to the folks who asked to pet her. its always a good idea to get permission and she loved it). all in all a very successful day to start her out and prep her for a winter single day Pemi and Presi. traction was not 100 percent needed but I wouldn't head out anymore this year without it, and it allowed me to cruise on down.
