Dog-Related Notes

Comments
Comments: Trail was dry starting at the trail head, then turned to dusting of snow and gradually increased depth to about 4 inches at the summit, some drifts up to 12 inches or so. Snow on trail was minor and mostly packed down, except for some drifts on the summit. You could feel ice under the light snow cover for the upper half of the trail. We put on our traction about 1 mile from the summit, at the intersection of Glencliff and Carriage Road. We kept the traction on during the descent until we were about 1.5 miles from the parking lot.

Four or five bear scat piles on the trail or right off to the side - all fresh within a day or two. Also saw tracks crossing the trail and hair/rub on a tree next to the trail.

Saw about 8 other hiking parties.
