| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The final stretch of Shaker Farm Rd is not maintained in winter so there is snow on the ground. The tire tracks are packed snow and maybe like 4-5" of snow everywhere else. The parking area is unplowed and slippery. The road has a bit of a grade coming back from the trailhead, so use caution if you think your tire tread may not make it. (I made it back up just fine in a fwd Mazda 3) |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A little challenging to keep to the trail at a couple of places. It looked like previous hikers had gone a different way for 20-30 ft and then backtracked. |

The trail starts out with maybe ~4" of snow, packed in many places. Only used light traction through this section until about halfway up when snow depth started getting to about 6"-12". I switched to snowshoes but it looked like everyone ahead of me barebooted it, which was fine in most places, but there were some postholes that were definitely knee-depth. Above treeline was of course significantly colder and windier, but there was also more ice and deep snow drifts, so watch your step. Near impossible to find the trail in some places, so I just aimed for the summit. Make a mental note of your path so that you can find your way back. Happy hiking. |
