Comments
Comments: Trace snow at the trailhead up to the view ledge - from there dusting up to south Moat and 1/4 to 1/2 inch on trail along ridge between south Moat and middle Moat. Lots of ice in the stretch beginning on rocks below view ledge (right after steeps) and all the way across the view ledge. Right below the view ledge several big ice flows - there are paths developing around the several of these. Significant ice across the view ledge. Without traction this stretch might be challenging. A few ice stretches above the view ledges to where you break out of the wooods. Trail in this stretch to south Moat is mixed snow covered rocks and dry rocks/trail with the few ice patches. Easy walking with little snow and few small patches of ice between South Moat and Middle Moat. Uncrowded trail today seeing only 4 people all day. Cloudy but great views with sun beams breaking over Chocorua.
