Comments
Comments: Fresh 12" powder snow, no base to speak of, there was some bare booters out before me but damage wasn't serious. Did loop CCW. I encountered one happy group of back-country skiers on top of Firescrew heading for the Firescrew ledges and Dukes Ski Trail. They were very pleased with snow conditions like I was. I had hard time locating trail through spruce belt just below Cardigan summit. I had to practically bushwhack through. Summit cone had much open ledge which raised question whether to take trouble of dismounting snowshoes in high winds conditions or just try to walk in snow where possible and accept some wear tear on crampon of MSR's. I opted for the latter.
