Late start 10:30, snowshoes all the way up. Was able to cross Lonesome lake. Some wet spots on the way over on the way back it was froze up nice. Caught a group of 3 guys in the ledges about 1/2, 3/4 miles down from the Kinsman Pond Jct. When I passed them they said the party's over and I just said "bring it on". Did not feel the bravado but not going to show my insecurities. Powder on top of breakable crust. It had a weird feel. Depths built from 3-5 down low to 8-12 on the ridge. Dropped my bag on North did the over and back to South. By myself I felt lucky to get out and back with joints screaming. Met the guys just starting up the ridge. They said they were going to spend the night at Kinsman Pond. I was thinking hope you have good sleeping bags. Got back to my car a little after 4pm. Great workout. |
