Late start hoping some of the trail was going to be broken out but once over the snowbank said "oh crap". Broke out 12-14 depending where the tree coverage was for about 1.2 miles than saw a welcome sight of a couple coming from the hut. Thank you guys :) . Carter dome trail is unbroken. Walked across the pond to the hut then started the slow slog of breaking trail up the CMT.Most of the trail breaking was knee to waiste high. It took me 1.5 hours to go about .06. It was one step up then slide back down. I had a cut-off time of 3pm so did not make it to the summit. Maybe a half mile from the top. Still alot of trail breaking to go though. Those steeps are brutal!! Snow shoes are 100% needed. The snow is light so its easy to break but deep. This season is kicking my ass for sure. Good luck out there and be safe. Still a great day in the woods. The trails are incredibly beautiful this season!! |
