Ascended by moonlight this very cold morning. The lower portion of the trail was broken out, but still soft. Snowshoes a must.
Above the top water crossing, significant stretches of the trail had been completely drifted in, once again making snowshoes a must. My tracks were filling in within just a few minutes time. No recent tracks visible on the Sosman Trail to the ski area, or the Mt. Tecumseh Trail summit loop (e.g. right at the junction).
Since the upper mountain lifts were all closed, I descended the side of the ski trails from the viewpoint down in the interest of time.
Overall, there's about 3 feet of snowpack, which is increasing with the active drifting. |
