Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The water is still raging from the rain a few days ago. We had a difficult time crossing at the junction with Carter Dome Trail. It took a good 20-30 minutes to find a possible crossing, which in my opinion, was sketchy at best. I was all about turning back and getting a big breakfast at The Water Wheel. But Joe was determined. He found a small log a little ways down to the right of the typical crossing. With the use of poles fully extended, we were able to touch the bottom and make our way across. Thank you, Joe. One other crossing a little further up on 19MB, which typically is nothing, was something yesterday. We walked across the frozen lip of the water flow. Again, sketchy in my opinion. I still had visions of a cheddar cheese omelette and home fries dancing in my head.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of duck unders on WCRT - all manageable, sometimes on hands and knees. More of a nuisance than anything b/c the pack and snow shoes kept catching on them.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: We saw a handsome older husky boy out for a walk with his mom.

Comments
Comments: The water was the only real concern on this hike, as described in the section above. Other than than, the trails are in prime winter condition. We wore hillsounds the whole time. We carried snowshoes and crampons, but never needed them. The section on WCRT from A-D was in better shape than we thought it would be. That incline from the hut up to A is a b!T$#. Another great hike in the books.
