| Water Crossing Notes: |
First crossing on Lincoln Brook - easy. 2nd crossing - crossed on unstable frozen slush columns - use great care - trash bags not necessary. 3rd crossing (actual Lincoln Brook) just before Brutus 'whack - undoable without trash bags or waders. Best to put on your trash bags and wade the low current pool just above the line of the trail. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
You'd think the Old Man and the Saw would get rid of that blowdown not too far above the rock but he never does. False advertising. |

I told the Schorman that I was going to solo the Owl today. I fear that he took pity om a doddering old fool wandering around in the Pemi today and decided to join me. I can live with that! Thank you Bill for a great day.
The way to the Owl was/is completely tracked. However from BP 'whack/Lincoln Brook intersection to summit looked like only 1 or 2 persons breaking/packing the track (Thank you whoever you are!). We spiked to start of the Brutus and wore 'shoes from there up for the televators and the traction. The steeps on the Brutus have only an inch or two of frozen granular with some bare ground. The trench from Black Pond on is so shallow that the Tues.night Wed. storm is likely to render it hard to follow. Definitely on the Brutus and the ridge. |
