Comments
Comments: it was smooth sailing on 19 mile (couple of icy spots but easily navigated around) and carter dome up to zeta pass. there were maybe 3 blowdowns on the way over to the Dome, but all easily managed. it's a blowdown obstacle course between zeta pass and middle carter. good grief, we crawled, we straddled, but we persevered. coming down from zeta, we lost the trail (it curves right), where it opens up and there are numerous old posthole tracks going off in several directions. north carter trail to the junction with the imp hasn't seen much use, but it's fine. the south branch of the imp trail is a mixed bag. choppy, rocky, thick ice flows, snow cover is thin in some areas. we left imp at around 1000' and BW thru open woods back to the parking lot. great day! only 10 winter peaks remaining.
