Comments
Comments: Started out in one-inch crampons but quickly changed to snowshoes, as we were slipping in the slushy snow. We were glad to have switched to snowshoes as the heel lifts were a great benefit while ascending, and hiking down was a lot easier with the increased stability. The snow depth was not significant at lower elevations, but it was just enough for snowshoes. There were areas of exposed rock in the stream crossings early on and higher up close to the summit, but it wasn't a problem in the snowshoes. While we weren't expecting much for views, it actually cleared up in the afternoon with nice views of the Crawford Notch, while the Presidential Range remained in the clouds.
