Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Bridges were refrozen after the thaw. Some were a bit scary-looking, but no problems. Descending the Garfield waterfall was fine with light traction - the ice was pretty crusty.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Between Garfield and Galehead there were a dozen or so blow-downs, some of which obscured the direction of the trail. However, the detours were minor at worst.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Met Penny the rescue dog.
Bugs
Bugs: Saw a bug crawling through the snow near the Garfield lean-to. How can they walk around when it is below freezing? This is a mystery to me. Email me if you know :-).

Comments
Comments: Lots of deep post-holes on Garfield Trail and Garfield Ridge Trail to the Gale River Trail. The group that left them must have had a hard time. I re-broke out the trail between Garfield Tentsite and the Gale River Trail -- just a few inches of powder. I hope that helps others find their way around the blow-down areas, some of which obscured the direction of the trail in a confusing way. I camped in the Garfield lean-to, and water was available at the little stream near by.
