i love the woods of this hike, especially on cedar brook, its just something I've always enjoyed. everything is a hard packed crust for now, but it all sounds hollow and unstable. as soon as temps rise it may be smart to take your snowshoes. i went up south first and nothing notable, except for a few spots of exposed ice that were easily negotiated. i went up in spikes, but crampons wouldn't have been overkill. right after the col between the peaks when you start to climb North peak, theres a couple quick messes of blowdowns that are easy enough to get around, and pretty much the entire north peak is blowdowns from that point on, but none really hinder the trail. going down north i put crampons on and i feel that was a good choice. its pretty slick from peeps butt sliding. All on all, a wonderful afternoon/ night hike with the pup. Gaia had it at 3:59 |
