| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
There was just enough room to get all four wheels off the road at the junction of High Street and Long Pond Road. If it's tight here, you can park at the plowed Glencliff Trail lot 0.3 mi. further up High Street. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable) |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
No issues. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A couple of minor blowdowns. If I'd remembered my saw I would have removed them. Upper section of BMT could use some brushing. Overall blazing could be improved. Not an issue now, but in unbroken snow the upper part of BMT can be confusing to follow on the open ledges, as most blazing is on said ledges. The old double blaze at the start of the summit spur is practically non-existent now. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Sure. |
|
| Bugs: |
Nope. |
|
| Lost and Found: |
Nothing. |

| Comments: |
Solidly frozen but choppy and rough conditions today due to boot traffic. There's a nice snowshoe track to start, but it veers off down Town Line Trail. Once on the upper ledges, the track improves and smooths out, being mostly ice monorail with some patches of dry ledge.
I dropped down the NW side of BMT to the west outlook. This was very roughly broken out by boot traffic. The summit spur is choppy at the junction, then improves.
Beautiful views today from the various outlooks. Temps were chilly, but tempered by bright sun and almost no wind. |
