The hike went mostly as expected. The Lonesome trail was broken but much softer than I expected. Two barebooters didn't help, either, but It's the Lonesome trail. Had to break from Lake over Dodge cutoff and to the summit through 12 to 18" of snow. No traffic from the West on KRT. On the descent I considered being a nice guy and breaking HiCannon from the Dodge on down. When I got to the intersection, however, I decided I'd had enough trail breaking and, besides, I'm not going to fool anyone into thinking I'm a nice guy anyway. My reward for this decision was the very pleasant walk down the Lonesome which had seen much snowshoe traffic during the day thus was smooth and firm. Hope it stays that way! |
