The short walk along the bike path is groomed for snowmobiles. The trail itself was well packed and very solid. Some areas have been smoothed over by butt sledders and others are a bit rougher. The track deviates slightly from the trail in a couple spots, but it's not off by much.
Snowshoes not needed today but will be needed as the temps warm up over the next few days. I wore spikes round-trip.
Indian Head Trail doesn't look like it's seen any traffic all winter, which isn't surprising since the parking area for that trail isn't plowed.
Still a fair amount of ice on the cliffs which requires a bit of caution. The trail beyond the cliffs to the actual summit was broken out by boot traffic only and is rough.
The sunny day didn't materialize, but still a nice morning out and temps were pleasant enough to hang out at the cliffs for a while. |
