Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: we drove in via new greenough pond road north of errol from rt 16, which is being plowed for logging operations this winter, for about 9 miles to its junction with corser brook road (snowmo corridor in winter). the road in had crusty snow over ice and the driving was ok with awd and care. tire chains were a nice bit of extra security, but they were probably not necessary today. we continued on shared road/corridor down to the big junction with corser, greenough and four mile brook roads. we then turned left (west) and drove a couple more miles to nathan pond brook road on the left. this section is shared with snowmobiles and potentially busy so we had to drive with care. the surface was softer and more chewed up from snowmobile use. the logging route continued onto nathan pond brook road with the same crusty snow over ice conditions. we went a couple more miles and parked roadside at a widely plowed spot west of the saddle between the two nathan pond ridge summits. the logging company doesn't appear to be hauling over the weekends as this was our second trip in on a saturday and we haven't seen any signs of large truck travel.

Comments
Comments: from where we parked we initially ascended on a fairly fresh skidder track before continuing up in open woods to the ridge in between the two peaks. moderate breaking for the most part with some deeper unconsolidated pockets. we headed to the northwest peak first staying a bit below the ridge to the left in open woods before climbing up onto the ridge to pick up a skid road to a subpeak. once on the skid road there were impressive snowmobile tracks that had come up from other skid road to the north. the road ended at the sub peak and we continued bushwhacking in open woods to the recognized highpoint. some neat lynx tracks along the ridge. we doubled back in our tracks to the saddle then headed to the southeast peak mostly in moderately regrown cut areas. one short steep climb leads to an open cut then open woods to the recognized highpoint. we then followed our tracks back down to the car.
