Comments
Comments: There was a fresh blanket of 6 inches of snow from Saturday night, but there were lots of tires tracks to walk in in the parking lot and Ferncroft Rd was plowed. I put spikes on at the car and wore them only a short time until I took a left off Ferncroft Rd onto Blueberry Ridge Trail. At that point, I switched to snow shoes and wore them the whole time. Although the trail was broken, the powdery snow was like walking in beach sand without snowshoes. This was the case for the entire hike. Although there were many cars in the lot when I arrived at 10:30, I only saw a few people out there on the trails. I ran into Ed Hawkins on Rollins trail. We exchanged some small talk and he offered me his signature dove chocolates. He was doing the same hike in a counterclockwise direction. I think I'll try that next time to mix it up a bit.
