From center of town headed south along Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway. Snowshoed up to Oak Hill. Conditions were ideal with 4-6" most of the hike. Summit although lower in height (1950'), was very windy. This actually created some small snow drifts, maybe up to 12", in parts of the last 100 feet or so. It was very fun to play in the good powder. One small section while descending, snow began to become sticky. Great conditions and beautiful day. I wore snowshoes, but after a slight warm up today, and then with 60 degrees the next two days, conditions will rapidly change. This is a gem of a little hike. |
