Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: i drove in dummer ponds road from rt. 16 in dummer for 6 miles to the wind main wind farm facility. this section of road is generally well plowed to allow for facility access. driving was crunchy on the way in a soft on the way out. i was surprised to see the road plowed beyond the facility so i continued on to phillips brook road where i turned north. paris road heading south looked to have been plowed at some point as well, but showed minimal recent travel. phillips brook was plowed to a couple minutes walk short of the fish brook wind access road where it turned west towards phillips brook pond and whatever logging operation is going on. be prepared for possible heavy truck traffic. i parked at the split being sure not to block the roads in any direction.

Comments
Comments: the short walk on phillips brook road to fish brook access road had some loose powder over hard snow cat packed base. the access road had a solid base and had been snowmobiled recently to the first set of wind turbines and had some loose powder over the packed base. where the road turns north it had not been packed down recently and it had 4-6 inches of fresh snow and drifted areas. real nice snowshoeing on this section up to the highpoint at turbine 26. given the orientation of the road there are some very nice views down to the northern whites as well as nearby peaks to the west and south. it was an equally nice walk back out to the car.
